As announced by FREEWATER and Winter Circle Productions, for the first ever FREEWATER Block Party on September 28, an eclectic group of rap and electronic artists will gather at Mardi Gras World in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans.
With two music stages, both indoor and outdoor, the Block Party boasts sets from such artists as RL Grime, DaBaby, Rico Nasty, What So Not, Graves, TVBOO, Mhadi G, Kenneth Brother, Trigem (Spicy Bois), Stone Cold Jzzle, Lango and Nameless, emphasizing FREEWATER and WCP’s interest in blending hip hop and dance genres. The event will also include art installations, food vendors (including Barrow’s Catfish), beverage vendors, custom interactive experiences, big production, exclusive merchandise releases and more.
Part of all event proceeds will go to Upbeat Academy Foundation, a free after-school music program for middle school and high school students in New Orleans. Founded in 2014, Upbeat Academy focuses on hip-hop dance music production and performance, and the organization has expanded to include over 300 student artists.
The Block Party will also feature Humidity New Orleans Skate Expo, where skaters from the area will show their skating tricks and abilities. A Sneaker Politics “Playhouse” will include interactive inflatable, outdoor games and a celebrity dunk tank.
Ticket packages include general admission tickets for $50, VIP ($75 for Early Bird or $85 tier 1) or VIP 21+ for $145, which provides access to a private open bar. A FREEWATER merch pack will also be available for ticket buyers, including custom socks, a bandana, lighter and water bottle. FREEWATER Block Party is a 16+ event.
