Musicians and bands looking to navigate the complexities of forming a Limited Liability Company (LLC) can benefit from a free workshop on Thursday, August 8. The event, titled “LLCs for Musicians and Bands,” is co-presented by The Ella Project and the American Federation of Musicians Local 174-496 New Orleans. It will take place at the Musicians Union Hall, located at 2555 Ursulines Ave, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The workshop aims to provide valuable insights into whether forming an LLC is suitable for musicians and bands, highlighting the pros and cons of such a business structure. Attorney Abid Hussain and CPA Anne Wolfe will lead the session, covering a range of critical topics including:
- The process of setting up and maintaining an LLC
- Differences between single-member and multi-member LLCs
- Tax implications for LLCs
- Opportunities available through unions or government programs for LLCs
In addition to these topics, the workshop will also feature a Q&A session, allowing attendees to ask specific questions related to their unique situations. This session is designed to help musicians understand the benefits and challenges of forming an LLC, providing practical guidance on managing their business affairs effectively.
The event is free to attend, but participants are encouraged to register in advance. Whether you’re a solo musician or part of a band, this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to learn more about structuring your business in a way that can protect your personal assets and potentially offer other benefits.
