Frank’s Place Tonight

In a nod to the great New Orleans-based television show that preceded it, HBO’s Treme presents “Open for One Night Only: Frank’s Place” at NOCCA tonight at 6:30 p.m. The 1987 series was Tim Reid and Hugh Wilson’s first series after WKRP in Cincinnati, and it starred Reid as a son who inherited the family’s Creole restaurant in New Orleans, including its debt and its regulars. Unfortunately, the series only lasted one season and has yet to be re-released on DVD.

Treme has arranged for a screening of two episodes of Frank’s Place tonight, which will be accompanied by a panel discussion with Reid, Wilson and Treme writer Lolis Eric Elie that will be moderated by Gambit Weekly editor Kevin Allman. Treme‘s Wendell Pierce was scheduled to serve as emcee for the evening, but he has had to cancel and won’t be appearing.
Admission is $20 with the proceeds benefiting NOCCA. Tickets are on sale now.
