If you want to ring in the New Year with the glorious sounds of New Orleans funk, the House of Blues has you covered.
The Foundation of Funk, a rotating supergroup of New Orleans funk artists presented by George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste, will commence the New Year with a funk show you will not want to miss. The master drummer and rhythm innovater, Modeliste, recruited the legendary bassist, George Porter Jr., in 2015. They pay homage to their band The Meters in constantly new and creative collaborative performances that keep the soul of funk grooving and moving. The innovative performance project features a different catalogue of guest stars for every show to give a completely unique experience every time they step on stage. Joined by Soulive/Lettuce’s co-founder and funk king Eric Krasno, Medeski’s Mad Skillet’s incredibly talented keyboardist John Medeski, and the soul soothing voice of Erica Falls, the superstar lineup will start jamming at 10pm.
As Krasno told OffBeat back in 2016, he loves playing in New Orleans because he could “Be swinging or playing funk and the crowd would be dancing or be a part of it. They’d be contributing to the show.” This show presents a perfect opportunity to play a part in an epic night of dancing, funky grooves, and good times and give these music legends the love and appreciation only New Orleans can offer.
