This weekend, Foburg, the indie music festival—now with film and comedy shows as well—mostly centered in the Marigny, returns with a diverse lineup of rock, electro, hip-hop, folk, and bounce artists, in addition to film screenings and stand-up comedians.
Highlights on Friday, the opening night include:
– Japanther, the Pharmacy and Jean-Eric at the Hi-Ho Lounge
– Big Freedia, Katey Red, Sissy Nobby, Nicky da B, Flyboy Keno, JC Styles, and Magnolia Rhome at Siberia
– Prom Date, Bantam Foxes, and Rareluth upstairs at the Blue Nile
– and a screening of the New Orleans underground rock documentary Un Heard Of at Lost Love Lounge at midnight
Saturday’s picks include:
– Maps & Atlases, Sun Hotel, and Caddywhompus at One Eyed Jacks
– Helen Gillet, Cliff Hines + Sasha Masakowski, Sick’s Pack, and Vagabond Swing at the Hi-Ho Lounge
– Lucky Lou CD Release Party with Vockah Redu, The Cru, NOLA Fam, DJ Q, and Children at Cafe Istanbul
– a full-day WTUL showcase at the Michalopolous Studio (527 Elysian Fields Ave.)
– and the after-party with DJs Musa and Joey Buttons at The Saint
and finally, Sunday’s schedule isn’t as packed with music, but some highlights include:
– The Men, Glish, and Native America at Siberia
– Wolves Where?, Summer People, Hot Cha Cha, and Sports & Leisure at the Hi-Ho Lounge
