Join Valcour Records for the Festivals Acadiens et Créoles kickoff party. Open to all, but complementary to Valcour Records’s Coop members, this will be a chance for the community to come to together to celebrate Fall and interact in person with some of the local music, food, and personalities that has been featured in the Coop over the past year. Live music will be performed by Amis du Teche, a band influenced by the traditional Cajun sounds and French language of long ago. Complimentary food and cocktails will be served and exclusive Valcour merchandise will be available along with giveaways and raffles.
The Coop is a new Valcour Records collaborative project with Louisiana musicians, chefs, storytellers, and artists of all disciplines, showcasing monthly content unavailable anywhere else. This program is made possible in part through support from the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area, The ArtSpark Program of the Acadiana Center for the Arts, and the Lafayette Economic Development Authority. Membership costs $6 per month and artists on the Valcour roster include Jourdan Thibodeaux et les Rôdailleurs and Kyle Huval and the Dixie Club Ramblers.
The Valcour Records kickoff event for Festivals Acadiens et Créoles will take place Oct. 13 (4-6 p.m.) at Hideaway Hall, 422 Refinery Street in Lafayette. The Festivals Acadiens et Créoles will begin at 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and include three days of food and music at Girard Park Drive in Lafayette. The festival is one of the largest free public events in the state of Louisiana and the largest Cajun and Creole celebrations in the continental United States. This year’s performers include Roddie Romero & the Hub City Allstars: Tribute to Clifton Chenier featuring Sonny Landreth.
