Festival International de Louisiane has announced the lineup for its 30th anniversary. The festival, which takes place throughout downtown Lafayette, LA, will feature performers from 25 different regions and countries.
Artists on the bill include Alpha Blondy and The Solar System (Ivory Coast), A-Wa (Israel), Burundi Drummer (Burundi), Boogat (Quebec), CharlElie Coutre (France), The Waifs (Australia), The Garifuna Collective (Belize), Cimarron (Colombia), Daby Toure (Mali/Mauritania), Pierre Kwenders (DR Congo), Rocky Dawuni (Ghana) and many more.
The fest will also feature plenty of local favorites, such as Sonny Landreth, Sunpie Barnes & the Louisiana Sunspots, Zachary Richard, Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, Cedric Watson & Leyla McCalla, Sweet Crude and The Lost Bayou Ramblers, just to name a few.
As in years past, the festival will showcase an array of local food and beverage vendors, as well as over 100 Louisiana artists across a variety of mediums.
Fesival Internationale is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, April 20 through Sunday, April 24. The event will once again be free and open to the public.
Festival International was launched in 1987 as a way of celebrating the French culutural heritage of South Louisiana. For three decades the fest has welcomed a variety of American, French, African, Carribean and hispanic artists–primarily from the Franophone world–to Lafayette during the last full weekend of April.
