Festival International de Louisiane will return to downtown Lafayette for its 31st edition from April 29 to April 29. Headliners include Balkan Beat Box (Israel/New York City), Ginkgoa (France), Mokoomba (Zimbabwe) and GuGu Drum Group (Shanghai).

Lafayette-based indie rock out GIVERS will also team up with Tom Tom Club—a group featuring Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads— and others for a special set during the festival.

As previously reported, Festival International found itself in dire straits last year after a number of corporate sponsors dropped out. Fortunately, the festival was able to muster up enough money to keep the event free and open to the public.

Festival International began as a celebration of Francophone musical acts from throughout the world, as well as those from Louisiana. The celebration has more or less stayed true to its roots, though numerous non-Francophone acts have been brought into the fold.
