After successfully fundraising nearly $6,000, Shreveport band Hwy Lions are heading back into the studio to finish recording their sophomore album, The Wheel.
After recording their debut in the attic of a downtown bar, the Hwy Lions opted to record their next record at Shreveport’s Foxtrot Studios, which they described on their Kickstarter page as, “a diamond in the rough in our city.”
After five days of recording, they had a generous portion of the album completed but had completely ran out of money.
The band turned to Kickstarter in order to raise the funds to complete the album which, lead singer Daniel Goodwill says, “was an amazing resource we were hesitant to embrace but it ended up being something more powerful than we could have imagined.”
The band even got some help from a family friend, legendary New Orleans guitarist, Papa Mali, who created a trailer to help advertise the campaign.
Fans who donated to the Kickstarter campaign got rewards such as handwritten lyrics, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and pre-release downloads.
The band even offered to take fans on fishing or bowling trips for pledges of $250 or more.
The Wheel is expected to be released by the end of November and will kick off a week long run of shows throughout Louisiana.
The shows will be announced in the upcoming weeks on the Hwy Lions Facebook page.
