Ivan Neville of Dumpstaphunk and Cris Jacobs of The Bridge have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund their new joint project, Neville Jacobs.
“This is a really special project. The musicians involved are just top caliber,” Jacobs said in the promotional video. “I’m just a kid in a candy store.”
Neville and Jacobs, who met and bonded over a game of poker, are joined by bassist Tony Hall, who collaborates with Neville in Dumpstaphunk, and drummer Brady Blade, who will co-produce the project with award-winning producer JoeBaby Michaels.
The new band is looking to raise $27,000 by March 20. The expenses expected to be covered by this sum include a mixing session with Chris Bell, whose clients include The Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire and Erykah Badu, mastering by Grammy Award-winner engineer David Glasser, two video shoots, and tour promotion.
Fans are invited to contribute with donations of any amount, and the perks range from an autographed limited edition of the CD for a $25 donation to spending a day in the mixing room for $6,000, or even having the band play in the venue of your choice for a $10,000 donation.
The band will receive all the funds raised by the campaign regardless of whether they reach their set goal or not.
“This music needs to be heard, and we plan to come out hard and heavy to rock your world,” Blade said in the video.
With 14 days left in the campaign, the Neville Jacobs team has raised a total of $10.985, constituting 41 percent of their target goal.
