The Essence Festival made new additions to its lineup of R&B artists yesterday, announcing that Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Kem and a newly-reunited New Edition will all play the main stage at the Superdome. New additions to the Superlounge stages include Miguel, Naughty By Nature, Doug E. Fresh, Marsha Ambrosius, Mavis Staples, Eric Benet, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Trin-i-tee 5:7 and Brian Courtney Wilson.
Mary J. Blige and Kanye were previously announced as headlining this year’s Essence Fest. This year’s festival, the largest event for African-American music and culture, takes place July 1-3. Weekend passes are available starting at $135.
