Esperanza Spalding will play the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans when she opens the second annual Faux/Real Festival on Thursday, November 3. The progressive jazz artist, who won a Best New Artist Grammy in 2011 and was the subject of an OffBeat profile in 2012, will be performing in support of her new album, Emily’s D+Evolution.
The Faux/Real Festival of the Arts will return to New Orleans November 3-13. It will celebrate the creative arts of theatre, music, dance, literature, food and drink at venues throughout the city. The endeavor will feature a variety of performances, readings, tastings, parties and other engagements.
“We’re thrilled to open this year’s Faux/Real Festival with Esperanza Spalding at the Orpheum Theater,” says Ben Mintz, Executive Producer of the festival. “Both the artist and the venue embody the spirit of Faux/Real. We’re excited to showcase our most dynamic schedule yet.”
More information on this year’s festival, including its theme and event schedule, will be revealed in the coming weeks. Tickets for Spalding’s set at the Orpheum Theatre will go on sale this Friday at 11am.
