This weekend, OffBeat will present an Aretha Franklin tribute event in partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO). Two phenomenal women have been added to the lineup. The Queen of New Orleans Neo-Soul, Erica Falls, will be a special guest. Also performing is the formidable jazz vocalist, Nayo Jones. Plus, Davell Crawford and Jolynda “Kiki” Chapman will also pay musical tribute to the late icon.
The world lost a once-in-a-generation talent when Aretha Franklin passed away on August 16 of this year. Though her hometown was Detroit, her presence is worldwide and she will be honored in another of America’s great musical cities, New Orleans.
On Friday, November 30, NOJO will perform a tribute to the music of the late icon. The concert event will be led by NOJO’s Artistic Director and drummer extraordinaire, Adonis Rose. The Grammy-winning orchestra will celebrate not only Franklin’s music but also her life and legacy as she was also a venerated civil-rights activist, actress and formidable pianist.
Tickets for the special event are available in three tiers: $30 general admission, $57 premium (which include mezzanine-level seating, access to the VIP lounge and bar during the show) and $85 VIP (perks include special seating, complimentary champagne and dedicated cocktail server).
