Leo Nocentelli, legendary guitarist for pioneering funk band The Meters, will celebrate his return to New Orleans with a special party at Tipitina’s on Thursday, December 17. The extravaganza will be hosted by Eric Paulsen of Channel 4 TV, and will feature guest appearances by Irma Thomas, The Soul Rebels, Ed Williams, Zach Feinberg & Andrew Campanelli (of The Revivalists), Cyril Neville, Big Chief Donald Harrison, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Deacon John, and more.

Nocentelli, who recently moved back to New Orleans after 33 years in Los Angeles, told OffBeat, “The euphoria of being back home is overwhelming. A person would need to have been gone as long as I have and coming back home–especially to a home like New Orleans–in order to feel what I feel. It’s a wonderful feeling. I wish I could live another 33 years just so I could feel this again.”
