Earphunk–the subjects of this month’s OffBeat cover story–will resurrect their Daft Punk tribute show for a series of spring dates.
The New Orleans prog-funk outfit will kick off the “Daft Phunk” run on April 20 (aka 4/20), when they perform before a sea of probably-stoned fans at Baton Rouge’s Varsity Theatre. The group will then move on to Tipitina’s in New Orleans, where they will play a late night Jazz Fest after show on Saturday, April 30. Their Louisiana gigs will be followed by a stop at Trees in Dallas on May 4 before the band swings through the Historic Scoot Inn in Austin on May 6.
Earphunk have stepped into the Daft Punk role on numerous occasions since they debuted their tribute to the French electronic music juggernauts in 2011. The band even credits their 2013 Daft Phunk gig at the Wakarusa Music Festival with creating new opportunities that helped them expand their fanbase.
