The newly renovated Joy Theater will get a Hoodoo checkup as Dr. John and his Nite Trippers descend for a very special performance on Saturday, September 20 at 9:00 p.m.
A bit more than a month after Satchmo SummerFest, the band will present its own tribute to Louis Armstrong, embodied in its 2014 release Ske-Dat-De-Dat…Spirit of Satch.
Despite cancelling a planned appearance in New York in early August due to a bout of the flu, Dr. John has committed to returning to his touring schedule.
With the new album, Dr John does more than just cover Armstrong’s tunes. He revitalizes them with warmth and joy, joined by outstanding guest musicians including the Blind Boys of Alabama, Bonnie Raitt, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and James Andrews, among others.
Tickets for the show range from $42.50 to $100 and are available at www.TheJoyTheater.com. VIP Packages include a reserved seat on the lower balcony, one autographed copy of Ske-dat-de-dat: The Spirit of Satch, and one limited edition show poster.
