Next Wednesday (February 19), Philly indie rockers Dr. Dog’s psychedelic circus will come through town on a bill that includes trippy New Jersey duo Saint Rich and looping folk singer Moses Sumney. A welcomed face in the local scene, Dr. Dog’s ties to the Crescent City stem from its tenure with Park the Van Records, which delivered the band’s first three full-lengths including its effervescent ’07 breakthrough We All Belong. In ’09, Dr. Dog signed on to iconic indie outpost ANTI-, which has gone on to release the group’s subsequent three albums, including its latest effort, the erratically incendiary B-Room in October.
More recently, in January, Dr. Dog and Saint Rich combined to release the Casual Free Fall Tour EP prior to hitting the road together. The four-song set, which is available for free on Noise Trade, features a single off of each band’s current album as well as Dr. Dog’s cover of Saint Rich’s “Crying From the Home” and Saint Rich’s cover Dr. Dog’s “Rock & Roll.” The thirty-show Casual Free Fall tour, which kicked off in late January, winds down in mid-March. Tickets for the tour’s New Orleans stop range from $22 to $30 and are available online via Ticketmaster. Doors to the Civic Theatre will open at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, and the concert will begin at 9:00. The Civic Theatre is located at 510 O’Keefe Avenue (map).
