The Distillery and the Contemporary Arts Center will be holding a Swap Meet performance at the Freeport-McMoRan Theater on Friday, August 22, at 7:00 p.m.
The docket for the night will include 15-20 minute excerpts new projects by interdisciplinary artists Aurora Nealand, A Scribe Called Quess?, Evan Spigelman and Maritza Mercado-Narcisse, with opportunities to interact and speak with performers.
The Distillery is a fellowship granted to performance artists allowing them to practice and hold performances in the Contemporary Arts Center. It provides stipends to cover costs, and links artists both locally and nationally to mentor and inspire each other.
Recipients of the fellowship are expected to write a 10-page research paper on their performances, rehearse weekly, provide three open to the public performances, and hold weekly roundtable discussions on the performing process.
