Discover Moroccan Music for Kids with Mahmoud Chouki & Alliance Française

The Alliance Française of New Orleans (AFNO) is excited to announce a vibrant collaboration with the New Orleans Public Library, offering a series of free workshops designed to introduce children to the rich cultural heritage of Moroccan music. These  sessions will be held at various library branches across the city and will feature the talents of renowned musician Mahmoud Chouki.

In these interactive workshops, Chouki will present a variety of traditional Moroccan instruments, lead rhythmic games, and take children on a musical journey through Africa. This program, designed for children aged 6-12 and their caregivers, promises to be both educational and entertaining. The workshops will be conducted in both French and English, making them accessible to a diverse audience and an excellent opportunity for language learning alongside cultural immersion.

The next session is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants can look forward to an hour filled with hands-on activities that foster a deeper understanding of Moroccan music and its cultural context.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their children to this free event to enjoy a morning of musical exploration and fun. For more information on the program and to find additional workshop dates and locations, visit the New Orleans Public Library’s website at neworleans.libnet.
