This weekend, Deutsches Haus New Orleans is hosting a Haus Social/Crawfish Boil at its headquarters along Bayou St. John.
Deutsches Haus, which last year celebrated 90 years in New Orleans, is one of the oldest cultural membership organizations in the city. “Our mission is to celebrate and foster the rich culture, musical heritage, language and history of the Germanic people,” the organization’s website says. In addition to this weekend’s crawfish boil, Deutsches Haus is responsible for several festivals throughout the year, including the Austrian Wine Festival, Heurigen; a Carnival celebration, Faschingfest; and, of course, Oktoberfest.
On Saturday, May 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., all are invited to Deutsches Haus (1700 Moss St.) for the crawfish boil. The event will include live music from local musician Eric Hahn. Tickets are available here through May 22 and include three pounds of crawfish with all the fixings (non-members will have to pay $20 in advance or $25 at the door). Folks can still enjoy the atmosphere and music, even without a ticket. Those who don’t like crawfish will be able to buy brats, and there will also be beer and soft drinks for purchase.
