Delius and Graewe Denied Entry

Yesterday, promoter Andy Durta reported that the series of concerts he had arranged for this week with Tobias Delius and Georg Graewe have undergone serious changes because Durta and Graewe were denied entry into the United States. According to Durta:

this past weekend, the outstanding Dutch saxophonist and clarinetist TOBIAS DELIUS was denied entry to the United States at Chicago’s O’Hare airport.   he was attempting to enter on a tourist visa, and they had internet printouts awaiting him about his upcoming events in Chicago, Ann Arbor, and right here in New Orleans…  the real damning-part was that a few of the hits had cover charges listed…  he claimed to be performing only to cover travel and housing costs (which, of course, would have been far more money than he was going to make)…they denied him entry…and put him on the next flight back across the sea, with a warning to send to his colleague GEORG GRAEWE (who was to perform with him in michigan, and here, on various pianos in town, the finding of which is no small feat…), that the same fate awaited him if he had no formal work permit….and so Tobias Delius and Georg Graewe will not be playing over the next eight days as originally planned…
