Nearly 20 years ago, this maxim — the m.o. of one Ms. Mary Moon — catapulted Deadeye Dick’s “New Age Girl” to the top of Billboard’s Alternative Songs Chart. 1994 was a whirlwind year for the New Orleans trio of singer, songwriter and guitarist Caleb Guillotte, bassist Mark Miller and drummer Billy Landry, as the quirky, tongue-and-cheek slacker anthem off of its debut album A Different Story spanned airwaves worldwide. By year’s end, the song’s inclusion on the soundtrack to the slapstick comedy smash Dumb and Dumber cemented its place in ’90s lore. The following year, Deadeye Dick released Whirl, but the album failed to live up to expectations. In 2000, the group disbanded, its fate as a one-hit wonder forever tied to one Ms. Mary Moon.

New Orleans rockers Deadeye Dick will reunite in celebration of its 90s smash "New Age Girl" on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Howlin' Wolf.

Today, as the dawn of the two-decade mark of Deadeye Dick’s debut single approaches, the boys in the band have decided to revive the long since dormant damsel at a reunion show at the Howlin’ Wolf on Friday, December 6, which will also see ex-Cowboy Mouth guitarist Paul Sanchez perform his 1993 solo album Jet Black and Jealous in its entirety. Recently, Deadeye Dick’s Guillote played the role of John Guidos in Sanchez and screenwriter Colman deKay’s musical Nine Lives: A Musical Story of New Orleans, an adaptation of author Dan Baum best-selling allegory Nine Lives: Mystery, Magic, Death, and Life in New Orleans.

Doors for Deadeye Dick’s reunion show will open at 8:00 p.m., and Sanchez will begin at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available for the price of $10 online or $12 at the gate. The Howlin’ Wolf is located at 907 South Peters Street (map).
