To celebrate July Jubilee, the month-long celebration of dance in New Orleans, the local dance community is bringing the $5 Dance Class Challenge and the National Dance Day Celebration to New Orleans. The $5 Dance Class Challenge, which runs from July 25- August 6, features dance classes across the city for only $5. In addition to the classes, a National Dance Day Celebration will be held at the New Orleans Recreation Department Commission Treme Center on Saturday, July 30. This free event will include demo classes from local dance studios, youth and professional dance performers and a flash mob.
Dance studios and programs participating in the $5 Dance Class Challenge include Broadmoor Arts & Wellness Center, Bounce Fitness, Crescent Lotus Dance Studio, Dance 4 Lyfe, Dance Quarter/NOLA Spaces, Dancing Grounds, Liquid Rhythm Inc. Salsa, Live Oak Dance, Melange Dance Company, N’Kafu Traditional African Dance, New Orleans Dance Academy, NORDC/NOBA Center for Dance, and Passion Dance Center. Classes in a variety of dance genres are available, including African, ballet, belly dance, bounce, contemporary, hip hop, and salsa, and they will be suitable for all levels. Any adult that visits five or more studios during the challenge will be entered in a raffle to win free class packages and other prizes.

July Jubliee is brought to New Orleans by the New Orleans Dance Network, an organization formed in January 2015 to serve the dance community by promoting the visibility and viability of dance in the greater New Orleans area.
