The North American Song Competition Foundation, in collaboration with 32nd Cutting Edge CE Conferences and Events, is excited to announce the Cutting Edge Songwriters Camp, set to take place from August 21 to 24, 2024, at the InterContinental New Orleans Hotel. This exclusive, invitation-only camp offers a unique opportunity for aspiring songwriters, composers, instrumentalists, vocalists and producers to hone their craft and collaborate with industry professionals.
The Songwriters Camp is a comprehensive four-day event, running from 10 – 8 p.m. daily, designed to create lyrics and music with genuine potential for market success. Participants will have access to professional studio equipment, experienced recording engineers and producers, ensuring a high-quality recording experience. The camp aims to improve participants’ creation, execution, and production skills while extending their knowledge of the music market and copyright regulations.
Key collaborators include Michael Dixon from Soda Rock Music, the multiplatinum-selling songwriter Jim McCormick (2021 Country Music Song of the Year nominee), Stephen Easley, Esq. from Buddy Holly Foundation, and Lilli Lewis, songwriter and advisor. Additionally, the camp will feature the Producers Cohort: Beat Makers, powered by DAWn Audio, allowing for collective and remote songwriting and recording.
Event Schedule (Subject to Change):
- Tuesday, August 20: Arrival and meet-and-greet, with campers assigned to stations.
- Wednesday, August 21: First day of songwriting.
- Thursday, August 22: Second day of songwriting, opening activities of the 32nd Cutting Edge Conference, film meetup with a panel, and music showcases.
- Friday, August 23: Continued songwriting, recording sessions begin, conference panels, music showcases, and the Songwriter Expo Festival of the Song at the George Wein Center.
- Saturday, August 24: Final day of songwriting and recording, panel sessions on entertainment law and music business, artist showcase, and continuation of the Festival of the Song.
Participants are required to cover their travel and accommodation expenses, with a special conference rate of $95 at the Cutting Edge Conference Hotel.
