Cutting Edge is holding its 24th annual music business conference from August 25-27 at the Hotel Intercontinental on 444 St. Charles Avenue. The conference consists of multiple panels, which feature successful music professionals who discuss emerging topics and trends. Cutting Edge also sponsors evening film and performance showcases at various venues around the city throughout the conference weekend.
One particularly intriguing panel discussion is The Anatomy of a Song Placement, which is sponsored by The Recording Academy® and will be followed by a networking reception. The panel will focus on the topic of music usage in film and TV productions, specifically discussing how musicians can get their songs placed in TV, film, and commercials, which often proves to be a pivotal element in establishing or advancing one’s career. This particular panel will be headed by Jay Weigel and David Lessoff.
Tickets to the conference can be bought in various packages and at different price points, including discounts for students and educators. However, admission to the aforementioned panel “The Anatomy of a Song Placement,” is free for active Recording Academy and GRAMMY U members.
