Entries are officially being accepted for the 7th annual Crescent City Film Festival, taking place on April 11-12, and presented by Loyola University New Orleans Digital Filmmaking Department. Emerging, no-budget, DIY filmmakers are encouraged to submit their films via FilmFreeway. The Festival will showcase short films of all genres, documentaries, experimental films and music videos.
Competition categories are short films only (limited to 45 minutes) with an additional reduced-cost submission category for Greater New Orleans Area Student Films (must submit student ID). Awards are determined by a festival jury. The final deadline to submit is March 1, 2025.
The Crescent City Film Festival is produced by students at Loyola University New Orleans each year. This year, the festival is introducing a rotating theme, subject to change each year. For the 7th annual fest, Apocrypha is dedicated to showcasing burgeoning DIY filmmakers and welcoming new avant-garde cinema into the canon.
Student filmmakers and otherwise no-budget filmmakers are highly encouraged to submit, especially those with a “punk ethos and an experimental eye.” Only submissions of the highest quality will be showcased.
The festival has already entered its extended deadline period, with submission fees increasing from $15 for standard shorts to $25 for extended deadline shorts (April 1). The event will take place April 11-12 and feature a panel of filmmakers for Q&As.
