The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) has officially announced its call for applicants for the highly anticipated 2023-2024 Creative Assembly Cohort. This innovative community engagement initiative is set to empower artists of diverse backgrounds through neighborhood-based participatory art experiences, fostering personal growth, collaborative efforts, and positive societal transformations.
In an effort to embrace artists from various disciplines and walks of life, NOMA is working to amplify artistic voices that often go unheard. The museum wants to expand the definition of an “artist” beyond conventional boundaries, welcoming individuals from all creative spaces to take this unique opportunity within the Creative Assembly Cohort.
The residency program, tailored for individuals aged 21 and above, encourages active involvement throughout the duration of the program. The initiative kicks off with a two-month series of workshops and studio sessions, set to commence on Wednesday, September 13.
New Orleans Museum of Art’s Creative Assembly Cohort extends various benefits to its selected members, including:
- Artist compensation totaling $2,000
- A dedicated stipend to support project materials
- Access to NOMA mentors, fostering artistic growth
- Exclusive showcase or performance opportunities within the museum
- Engaging and tailored professional development workshops
- One-year membership to NOMA
Interested artists are encouraged to complete the interest form, providing insights into their artistic practice and audience engagement. Notification of acceptance will be communicated via email, with the final date for form completion set for August 18, 2023.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to not only further their own artistic journeys but also contribute to the community’s cultural enrichment and social progress.
