A one-night-only country music benefit concert will be held at the Cajundome in Lafayette on Sunday, November 7, to aid relief efforts following recent hurricanes in south Louisiana. Ragin Country Crawl, sponsored by CRM Construction & Roofing, will feature Lee Brice as the headline act along with performances from ACM and CMA Award-nominated artist Randy Houser, country rapper Colt Ford and popular country disc jockey Dee Jay Silver.
“It’s a great honor for me personally to come out and play a small role in helping out the proud, resilient people of Louisiana,” said Brice. “Country music has a special power to unite and uplift, and I look forward to taking the stage and inspiring fans to take action and lend a helping hand to families and communities facing a long road to recovery.”
Ten years after the release of his first album, music listeners likely think they have a good idea about who Brice is, based on his eight #1 singles and his seven CMA Award nominations. He is, one might argue, a sensitive country roughneck, the guy who embraces the power of long-lasting relationships in “Love Like Crazy,” “A Woman Like You” and “I Don’t Dance.” He’s the guy who makes his audiences cry every time he memorializes people who sacrificed their lives on our behalf in “I Drive Your Truck.”
With an inimitable voice the New York Times describes as “wholly different, thicker and more throbbing, a caldron bubbling over,” Houser racked up five consecutive country radio hits and over five million singles sales after shifting record labels to Stoney Creek Records. He topped the charts with the “How Country Feels,” “Runnin ’Outta Moonlight,” “GoodnightKiss,” (also his first number one as a songwriter), “We Went,” and earned critical acclaim for his powerful delivery of the Top 5 smash “Like A Cowboy,” nominated for a CMA Song of the Year.
By 2019, Ford built a series of staggering successes as he rose to mainstream notoriety as a country rap artist. He notched five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart with Declaration of Independence bowing at number one in 2012. Two years later, Thanks for Listening ascended to the Top 10 of the Top 200, with the album reaching number one on Billboard Rap and Independent charts. Meanwhile, he lobbed six songs onto the Hot Country Songs Chart with “Back” (featuring Jake Owen) going Top 40. Among many accolades, Ford received a nomination in the category of “Vocal Event of the Year” at the Academy of Country Music Awards for “Cold Beer” with Jamey Johnson.
As the first DJ ever signed to a major Nashville record label, RCA Nashville, Dee Jay Silver has been a top touring DJ/remixer/producer for the past 15 years, having played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The groundbreaking open-format DJ/performer has thrilled millions with his unique ability to blend all types of music from hip hop and rock to house and country for crowds of all sizes, as well as on mash-ups and remixes. Silver has been traveling the world playing every kind of event and venue from the largest nightclubs, high-profile celebrity parties and exclusive private events to massive sporting events, award shows, major music festivals and arena tours and all that’s in between.
“Our company was founded on the idea of helping people find a way back to their normal lives after facing unthinkable disasters,” said Steve Soule, CEO of CMR Construction & Roofing. “Ragin Country Crawl will be a perfect opportunity for the country music community to turn one special evening into much-needed support for families and businesses across the region.”
Doors to the Cajundome, 444 Cajundome Boulevard, will open at 3:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 5 p.m. General public ticket sales are available at ragincc.com.
