Mike IX Williams, best known as vocalist for the seminal New Orleans metal act Eyehategod, will perform with his new band, Corrections House, for the first time in New Orleans tonight at Siberia.
Corrections House, which combines Williams’ vocals with contemporary metal and industrial music, also sports members of Neurosis (of Oakland, Calif.) and Nachtmystium (of Chicago), two bands known for pushing the boundaries of modern metal. In addition to the main show, each band member will perform a solo set, with spoken word poetry from Williams and acoustic guitar from Scott Kelly of Neurosis.
The band recently released a music video online for the track “Hoax the System.” In the six-minute black-and-white video, surreal images of solitary figures in a bleak landscape accompany the grinding, industrial audio. “Hoax the System” will be released as one side of a limited edition 7”, forthcoming on War Crime Recordings.
Tonight’s show at Siberia opens with Solemn Sickness Continuum, a local experimental project from Eyehategod’s drummer Joey LaCaze. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10.
