The New Orleans Daiquiri Festival will take place on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 548 Marigny Street.
More than just a celebration of one of New Orleans’ most famous drinks, the fourth edition of this homegrown festival will treat Daiquiri fans on two days of entertainment and music.
While the event will include family activities such as a make-your-own snowball stand, the main attraction will be the “adult snowballs,” the wide range of cocktails and original daiquiris, and the musical lineup.
On Saturday, Quincy Mumford & The Reason Why will kick off the festival, followed by The Original Pinettes Brass Band, Ian A. Lewis and The Hot 8 Brass Band. On Sunday, Micah McKee & Little Maker, Cardinal Sons and Tank and The Bangas will close the festival.
If you want a preview of the celebrations, the New Orleans Daiquiri Festival will host its first Daiquiri Day Parade on Saturday, July 19. The Parade will begin at 4:30pm outside of Gene’s Daiquiris near the corner of Elysian Fields Ave. and St Claude, featuring dance troupes and the Goodchildren Marching Band.
All ages are welcome. People under 18 have to be accompanied by a parent and children 12 and under get in free. Tickets for a day of festival are $8 each, while weekend tickets are $32 (the latter including a Daiquiri fan bag with a festival shirt and goodies). Both can be purchased on the festival website. Further information and a full lineup for the festival can be found at: http://www.neworleansdaiquirifestival.com/
A percentage of this year’s proceeds will go toward waste and litter reduction efforts provided in Faubourg Marigny.
