As one of his last official acts as mayor, Ray Nagin presided over the opening of the sculpture garden in Armstrong Park. Unfortunately, some pieces had to be mounted on makeshift stands because the permanent bases weren’t ready, and some sculptures weren’t ready to be presented.
On Friday, one of the absent pieces will be unveiled. Adewale Adenle’s sculpture commemorating Congo Square will be dedicated Friday at noon in Armstrong Park. The dedication ceremony was scheduled for Thursday, and it is open to the public.
