The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation is now accepting grant applications in four categories of the Community Partnership Grants Program. The deadline to apply is July 16, and activities funded by these grants are required to occur between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013.
The four categories under which projects must fall are:
1. Jazz & Heritage After-School and Summer Education Programs in Music, Art and Cultural Traditions
2. Jazz & Heritage In-School Education Programs in Music, Arts and Cultural Traditions
3. Jazz Journey Presenting: Festivals and Concerts in Music and Performing Arts
4. Jazz & Heritage Archive: Documentation and Preservation
Each category serves a different purpose for the community. The after-school and summer education programs grants will adhere to the needs of programs provided by non-profit and educational institutions. This includes paying for professional fees for musicians and artist offering their services to the programs. Grants for in-school education programs will sustain music education in Louisiana public schools which would provide funding for instruments that need repair and cover part of an art teacher’s salary. The grant focusing on festivals and concerts will provide funding to non-profit organizations that will allow the hiring of local musicians and performers.
Any organization searching for assistance in educating, celebrating, or preserving the musical culture of Louisiana should apply as early as possible for a grant in any four of the categories available. For more details visit CommunityPartnershipGrants.org
