If you were at Marie’s Bar last Saturday, you might have seen what seemed like a familiar sight—a man with long hair, big hat, and a feathered guitar playing the blues. But the Coco Robicheaux look-a-like was part of Robicheaux’s memorial at the Marigny watering hole on December 3, performing on Robicheaux’s guitar. The gathering of friends and fans also included a performance by Guitar Lightning Lee, Ernie Vincent, and a bus full of staff from The Shed BBQ in Ocean Springs, MS—one of Robicheaux’s favorite spots.
Coco Robicheaux’s official memorial second line is Monday, December 12. It starts on Frenchmen Street at 3:30 p.m. and ends at House of Blues, where a free musical tribute to Robicheaux begins at 6 p.m. with Anders Osborne, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Honey Island Swamp Band, Glen David Andrews, John Mooney, Irene Sage, Colin Lake, and many more members of Robicheaux’s vast musical brotherhood.
