Chenier–aka The King of Zydeco–and his Red Hot Louisiana Band recorded the album at Bogalusa, LA’s famed Studio in the Country. The LP was one of the first zydeco recordings to reach an audience outside of Louisiana, and was eventually inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011.

Other 2016 selections include John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme, Metallica’s Master of Puppets, Merle Haggard’s Mama Tried, Billy Joel’s Piano Man, Santana’s Abraxas and The Supremes’ Where Did Our Love Go.
Chenier passed away in 1987, but his son C.J. Chenier keeps his the zydeco flame alive as he continues to perform with the Red Hot Louisiana Band.
