The Krewe of Stars will crown Bourbon Street entertainer Chris Owens as its Queen for 2019 at their official announcement on Saturday, June 23. As Queen of the Krewe of Stars, Owens will reign over the krewe’s annual Ball for All, which will be held at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie on January 19, 2019. Previous Krewe of Stars royalty includes 2017’s Dennis Assaf and Angela Hill and 2018’s Al “Carnival Time” Johnson and Irma Thomas.
The announcement event will take place at the Mardi Museum of Costumes and Culture at 1010 Conti St. in the French Quarter, joining Owens as King of the Krewe of Stars will be companion Mark Davison.
The night will commence at 6 p.m. with the “Royalty Reception with Queen’s Tea,” where guests can are invited to mingle with next year’s royalty and treat themselves to a selection of food and wine. Festive wear, including crowns and tiaras, are encouraged.
The official announcement, hosted by Krewe of Stars co-captains Carl Mack and Marshall Harris, will occur at 7 p.m. Owens and Davison will be available for interviews immediately following. Afterwards, the party will continue in the form of a second line parade to the Chris Owens Club at the corner of Bourbon St. and St. Louis St. Then, inside the Club at 8:30 p.m., Owens and some special guests will perform live for the audience of krewe patrons.
Admission is $30 for krewe members and $40 for all others. Annual krewe membership is $150, which includes two tickets to the Ball for All and discounts for events throughout the year. Individual tickets to the ball are $50, and both can be found on the krewe’s website.
