Cervantes Hispanic American Arts Announces Que Pasa Fest 2024

Cervantes Hispanic American Arts Foundation is thrilled to announce Que Pasa Fest 2024, a celebration of Hispanic Heritage taking place October 5 and 6, 2024, at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, LA. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days, offering an immersive experience into Latin American culture through a variety of exciting attractions.
Festival Highlights:
  • Food: Enjoy a culinary journey with 24 food booths representing diverse Latin American cuisines.
  • Community and Business Booths: Explore 50 booths featuring local and international services, community outreach and products.
  • Children’s Play Area: A dedicated space designed for family-friendly fun.
  • Music and Entertainment: A dynamic lineup of performances from renowned local and international artists including La Gran Banda, Las Chicas Rolands, Grupo Recuerdos, Los Guiros, Rumba Buena, Cristina Kaminis and the Mix, Javier Olondo & AsheSon, La Tran-K Band, Los Hermanos Polanco, Centro Norteño, DJ Lady B and DJ Nayo.
Admission Details:
  • Free Entry: 11 a.m to 5 p.m. each day.
  • After 5pm: $5 entry fee.
  • Children: Free admission all day.
  • Note: No outside food or beverages allowed; however, chairs and blankets are welcome.
In addition to the festival, Cervantes Fundación Hispanoamericana de Arte will host the Guillermo De Bango Excellence in the Arts Award and the Oscar Marcia Music Award ceremony. This event takes place Friday, September 27, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center located at 6400 Airline Dr. in Metairie.
The awards will honor:
  • Belinda Flores-Shinshillas with the Guillermo De Bango Excellence in the Arts Award.
  • Javier Gutierrez with the Oscar Marcia Music Award.
The Kickoff Event will feature performances by Ramon Veloz, Javier Gutierrez and Vivaz, Vive Mi Tierra, Nicaragua Mia, Grupo Garifuna Iseri Nibureitiña and Ballet Folklorico de South Texas College. MCs will be Lindsey Navarro and Alberto Chinchilla Jr. Reserved seating is available for $15 through Ticketmaster.com. 
About the Awards:
  • Guillermo De Bango Excellence in the Arts Award: Named in honor of Cervantes Fundación’s founder, Guillermo De Bango, this award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the promotion of Hispanic culture in Louisiana.
  • Oscar Marcia Music Award: Established in memory of the influential Honduran musician Oscar Marcia, this award celebrates outstanding contributions to the Latin music scene in New Orleans.
Que Pasa Fest 2024 is held in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), a time to celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
