Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month September 21st

New Orleans is gearing up for a vibrant celebration as the French Market hosts its 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Saturday, September 21st. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the French Market will come alive with an array of activities designed to honor and showcase the rich tapestry of Hispanic and Latinx cultures.

The day’s festivities will kick off with a stellar lineup of musical performances curated by Ecos Latinos. Attendees will be treated to a dynamic mix of Latin sounds spanning several countries.

The French Market Stage will feature:

11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Patrice Fisher & Arpa, with special guests from Puerto Rico
12:30 p.m – 12:50 p.m: Seimpre Flamenco Duo, bringing the soulful rhythms of Spain
1:10 p.m – 1:40 p.m: Contratiempo Duo, offering Venezuelan beats
2 p.m – 2:40 p.m: Orkestra Maria Fumaca, infusing Brazilian rhythms
3 p.m – 4:00 p.m: Vivaz Latin Jazz, showcasing Bolivian flair

For those eager to dance, the Dance Lesson Stage will feature a variety of Latin dance styles, including:

11 a.m. – 12 p.m: Salsa
12 p.m – 1 p.m: Bachata
1 p.m – 2 p.m: Merengue
2 p.m – 3 p.m: Bachata
3 p.m – 4 p.m: Salsa

There will also be an array of food booths representing local favorites and authentic Latin American cuisine. Attendees can savor dishes from El Gato Negro, Pupuseria La Milpa, Curramba La Bella, Tercero’s Kitchen by Nick & Katie and Taqueria La Lucha.

The celebration will also feature a range of community organizations, providing valuable resources and connections. Meet representatives from Tulane University School of Social Work, Total You Accounting, Familias Unidas En Accion, Viva Nola and Jane Place Sustainability Initiative.

Families are encouraged to bring their children along for a day of fun and creativity. Kids can enjoy paper flower crafts with Adorn Me Antoinette and biodegradable glitter face painting with Pixie Dust.
