BUKU: Planet B among last fall festivals to be canceled

One of the last holdouts for what had promised to be a robust fall festival season in New Orleans has been canceled. Organizers of BUKU: Planet B announced today that the music event will no longer take place over the weekend of October 22-23. Ticket holders will receive an email with details about the refund and rollover process. BUKU 2022 will take place March 25-26.

In a statement posted to Twitter, organizers announced, “As you’ve probably seen, Lousiana is getting rocked by COVID-19 again and it’s causing large events in the state to cancel. We’ve spent the last couple of weeks trying to hang on, but don’t see a guaranteed path forward under the current and projected public health conditions.

“The purpose of Planet B was to ‘set yourself free’ as we celebrate the return of festivals in New Orleans. Simply put, we’re not quite there yet … to end on a positive note, the lineup for the next BUKU on March 25-26, 2022, is insane so far. Can’t wait!”

Acts scheduled for BUKU: Planet B included some of modern music’s biggest stars like powerhouse hip-hop icon Megan Thee Stallion, melodic bass music’s ultimate champion Illenium, pop-punk vocalist Machine Gun Kelly, experimental rapper Playboi Carti, and Memphis rap chart-topper Pooh Shiesty.
