Seven-time Grammy Award-winner Buddy Guy will headline Tipitina’s in New Orleans on Sunday, October 23. The Marty Sammon Band will open.
Despite being a native of Lettsworth, LA, Guy moved to Chicago in his youth and went on to become a leading exponent of the city’s blues tradition. His energetic style also had an immeasurable influence on some of rock and roll’s most important figures, including Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Page.
At 80 years old, Guy is still recording new music and touring the world on a regular basis. He last performed in New Orleans during this year’s Jazz & Heritage Festival, and his 2015 release Born to Play Guitar earned him a Grammy for Best Blues Album.
Tickets for Guy’s upcoming show at Tipitina’s will go on sale this Friday, September 16 at 10am.
