The Bucktown All-Stars will celebrate 30 years as New Orleans favorite party band with a performance on August 12 at 8:30 p.m. at their long-time “home base,” Mid-City Lanes Rock ‘n’ Bowl, located at 3016 South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans. The evening will also serve as the band’s annual “Back to School” dance.
Former band members are expected to appear on stage throughout the evening. Established in 1992, the Bucktown All-Stars are built on a funky rhythm section and solid horn section. Performances have led to the group being a first-call band for that special party situation. Multi-year winner of Gambit Reader’s Poll, “Best Band That Doesn’t Fit Any Of These Categories” and 10-time winner of OffBeat magazine’s Best of the Beat Awards, the Bucktown All-Stars have appeared at every major festival in the Gulf South, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Festival, Gretna Fest, Biloxi Seafood Festival, Wednesday at the Square, Baton Rouge’s Earth Fest, the Endymion Extravaganza, Samedi Gras, as well as many other regional festivals.
The band’s high energy performances have also led to appearances at several special sports-related events for the New Orleans Saints, Hornets/Pelicans, Sugar Bowl and New Orleans Bowl, including the post-victory Super Bowl Parade private party for the Saints team and their families, the grand opening of Champions Square, as well as many pre-game concerts, including the 2009 Saints vs. Cardinals playoff game, 2010 Saints season opening vs. Vikings in Champions Square, Sean Payton’s “Pay It Forward” fundraiser and numerous bowl games and Hornets/Pelicans games.
