Brooklyn Brewery Mash Returns to New Orleans

The Brooklyn Brewery Mash-a week-long festival featuring craft beer, food, film, comedy, and arts-returns to New Orleans this week.

It’s the largest international travelling festival of its kind, and in 2015, it stops in six US cities in addition to London, and Stockholm.

Today, Brooklyn Brewery co-founder Steve Hindy will present a discussion on the state of craft beer at NOLA Brewery, featuring  Dylan Lintern (New Orleans Lager and Ale Brewing Company), David Blossman (Abita Brewing Company), Andrew Godley (Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild), and John Holl (All About Beer). There will be an introduction by New Orleans beer writer Nora McGunnigle and food from the King Creole Food Truck. The event begins at 6 p.m., and tickets cost $6.

There will also be a “pies and pints” event held at Pizza Delicious from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring pizza maestro Chef Andrew Gerson.

On Thursday, there will be a Tap Attack event at The Avenue Pub at 6 p.m., and then One Eyed Jacks will screen the Found Footage Festival, a hilarious series of found video clips from around the country with live commentary by curators Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Letterman). The showing starts at 8 p.m. with tickets for $10.

Friday brings writer, comedian, and actor Chris Gethard’s acclaimed live show, self-described as the “most bizarre talk show in New York City” at 8 p.m. at The New Movement. Tickets cost $15.

On Sunday, Animation Block Party, the premier animation festival of the East Coast, hits One Eyed Jacks at 2 p.m. Founded by Casey Safron and dedicated to exhibiting all genres of animation, Animation Block Party brings together the best of Brooklyn’s and New Orleans’ animators with screenings followed by an audience Q&A. Tickets cost $5.
