Broadway in New Orleans has brought some of the biggest productions in theater to the Saenger Theatre over the years. Now it looks like the Crescent City will play host to the biggest production in theater when the smash hit “Hamilton” comes to town during the 2018-2019 season.
According to The New Orleans Advocate, the announcement came today along with the schedule for the Saenger’s 2017-2018 season. Broadway in New Orleans noted that subscribers to the 2017-2018 season will have priority access to seats for the 2018-2019 season, which includes Hamilton.
Considering the unprecedented popularity of the production (the wait for tickets to “Hamilton” in New York City is almost a year), subscribing is probably the best way to secure a seat when it comes to the Saenger.
While the exact date of Hamilton’s arrival was not revealed, Broadway in New Orleans did provide scheduling info for its 2017-2018 offerings.
The Jimmy Buffet-inspired “Escape to Margaritaville” (Oct. 20-28), Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic “The King And I” (Nov. 14-19), “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” (Dec. 19-24), the Gershwin-inspired hit “An American In Paris” (Jan. 30-Feb. 4), the 2016 Tony Award-winner “The Color Purple” (Feb. 20-25), , the Andrew Lloyd Webber phenomena “Phantom of the Opera” (Mar. 14-25), popular rock musical “Rent” (Apr. 17-22) and “Waitress” (June 12-17). will all come through New Orleans during the 2017-2018 season.
