The Breton Sound Kicks Off “Desert Island Discs” Concert Series January 15

On January 15, New Orleans rock quartet The Breton Sound will be kicking off their “Desert Island Discs” concert series, a series of four performances over the course the year of full albums by their favorite musical influences.

Breton Sound, Desert Island Discs, Weezer, The Blue AlbumThe January show will take place at 9 p.m. at Gasa Gasa and pay homage to Weezer with a start-to-end rendition of The Blue Album.

NOLA-based R&B/pop quintet Social Set will open the show with a full rendition of No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom.

“The idea came about to do something like this because it makes the show more of an event than just another band playing another show in town. We’re just trying to find ways to do something a little different, more free form, and get to work with other musicians that we normally wouldn’t get to, not just share a bill with, necessarily but get up and perform alongside,” Breton Sound vocalist and guitarist Jonathan Pretus said.

The albums played at the subsequent shows will be determined by audience poll.

The date for the second show has been set for May 16 and will also serve as a release party for The Breton Sound’s upcoming EP, Don’t Be Afraid of Rock and Roll.

Tickets for the January 15 show cost $10 and are available at www.gasagasa.com.
