In a show sure to keep your body grooving, New Orleans’ Famous Take Fo’ Records presents Bounce Royalty (featuring Choppa, Cheeky Blakk, Dj Jubilee), and Brass-a-Holics. The event will take place Wednesday, December 25 starting at 8 p.m. at Howlin’ Wolf.
The song “Choppa Style” has become an instant classic in New Orleans ever since the Saints founded it as their new anthem last season. The song immediately recalls the Black and Gold dominating any opponent bold enough to step foot in the Dome. It went on to be sampled in various hit songs by national recording artists ranging from Yo Gott, French Montana, City Girls and Cardi B.
Choppa along with New Orleans hip-hop legends Cheeky Blakk, the original Queen of Bounce and DJ Jubilee, the originator of bounce line dancing, have formed a super group triumvirate dubbed Bounce Royalty. They made their stage debut at the National Fried Chicken fest on the main stage curated by OffBeat. Now, the crew will put on a Christmas night show that couldn’t happen anywhere else except New Orleans.
Take Fo’ told OffBeat in June that “Twerking and bounce music is like red beans and rice. There should never be one without the other.” You can be sure that when this group of legends is on stage, everybody will be dancing their asses off. The trio launched the project “Twerk Baby Twerk” to settle the origin of the world famous dance style, and they will certainly help you learn why it has become so popular. In a collaboration with Brass-A-Holics’ addictive and an instantly recognizable sound, the concert will not be one you want to miss.
