When the 2017 New Orleans Film Festival (NOFF) rolls into town October 11 through 19, there will be no shortage of high-powered events to attend. One of the week’s most anticipated events will be “Diva Dance Fever” when it takes over Crescent Park’s Mandeville Shed (2300 North Peters Street) on October 14 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
In addition to the non-stop dance party that is sure to take place, the party will also include the world premiere of “Tropical Punch,” documentary and visual album about the history of Bounce Music as told by none other than the Queen Diva. With an open bar, food trucks and music provided by New Orleans’ own DJ RQ Away, the night promises to be one for the books as attendees dance the night away while taking in the mini-doc. Though Big Freedia won’t be in attendance, the festivities will be high-octane and dance-filled.
The event will be free for All Access and Weekender Passholders, while general admission tickets are also available for $20 to all New Orleans Film Society members and only $25 for non-members.
As previously mentioned, the Diva Dance Fever party is one of many of the NOFF’s high-profile, celebrity-filled events to take place over the course of the festival. Other festival attendees include New Orleans’ own actress Patricia Clarkson and actress Gabourey Sidibe. Meanwhile, actor, Jason Mitchell will screen his upcoming film Mudbound before receiving NOFF’s Trailblazer Award, which will recognize his groundbreaking accomplishments in film.
