Baton Rouge rap icon Boosie BadAzz (formerly known as Lil Boosie) will undergo surgery for kidney cancer today. The hip-hop artist, who served nearly five years at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola before being released in March of 2014, revealed the news via a heartfelt post on his Instagram last night.
Boosie BadAzz first confirmed that he has kidney cancer on November 25, when he announced–and then promptly deleted–the news via Instagram. Nevertheless, his diagnosis was reported by XXL Magazine and eventually confirmed by Atlantic Records.
The rapper released his highly anticipated sixth studio album Touch Down 2 Cause Hell in May of this year. The record was a follow up to his 2010 album Incarcerated, which was released during his time in Angola.
