A team of concert promoters and producers have revealed their plans for a new large-scale music festival in central Florida. The gathering, billed as the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, will take place March 4-6, 2016 at the 800 acre Sunshine Grove property north of picturesque Lake Okeechobee.
Soundslinger, LLC, a group that includes principals that have worked on the popular Bonnaroo and Outside Lands festivals, will present the event. The producers promise that the affair will feature over 80 artists, and will be Florida’s biggest camping festival to date.
“We believe that the festival culture in the US is at a crossroads,” says Soundslinger COO/Chief Creative Officer Paul Peck, who helped launch and develop Bonnaroo. “People are looking for meaningful festival experiences and events where they can connect with a true sense of inspiration and community. Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival will offer something truly special. Sunshine Grove is the most naturally beautiful festival site in the country and we’re transforming it into a magical new world of music, food, art, and creativity. I can’t wait to share with fans what we’re cooking up.”
Peck has developed a reputation as the organizer of Bonnaroo’s famed SuperJam performances, so it should come as no surprise that the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival will put an emphasis on once-in-a-lifetime artist collaborations. Additionally, the event will also showcase a dusk-til-dawn electronic music stage, along with yoga, meditation and holistic workshops from world-renowned instructors.
The artist lineup for Okeechobee is yet to be confirmed, but an announcement is expected in the near future.
