Bob Weir & The Campfire Band will make their New Orleans debut on Tuesday, April 18 when they headline the Saenger Theatre. The gig will mark Weir’s first Crescent City concert in over a decade.
Led by guitarist, songwriter and founding Grateful Dead member Bob Weir, the band also features Aaron Dessner, Bryan Dessner and Scott Devendorf of famed indie rock outfit The National, along with Josh Kaufman, Steve Kimock and Jon Shaw.
The Campfire Band formed after the release of Weir’s newest solo album, 2016’s Blue Mountain. Written in collaboration with singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, the records finds Weir diving into the cowboy culture that inspired him as a young man (we spoke to Ritter about working with Weir last year).
It’s only been 18 months since the surviving members of the Grateful Dead reunited for a series of massively popular Fare Thee Well shows, but Weir has not slowed down a bit since then. In addition to releasing Blue Mountain and forming the Campfire Band, the guitarist has also spent a fair amount of time on the road with Dead & Company, a Grateful Dead spin-off with Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, John Mayer and Oteil Burbridge.
Tickets for Bob Weir & The Campfire Band in New Orleans will go on sale Friday, January 27 at 10am via Ticketmaster.
