Bo Dollis Jr. has organized a free “Stop the Violence” concert for this Sunday, June 5 at the Carver Theater in New Orleans. The Mardi Gras Indian leader was inspired to put on the event after his 76-year-old godmother, former Jazz Fest associate producer Nancy Ochsenschlager, was brutally beaten and carjacked in Mid City last month.
The concert will freature music from Bo Dollis Jr. and The Wild Magnolias, as well as Uncle Benny Jones of the Treme Brass Band, E’Dana Richardson, Tonya Boyd Cannon, The Red Hot Brass Band, Gaynell Sorina’s Divine Dance Depot and the Roots of Music. Numerous sports and arts organizations will also be on site to sign up kids for activities.
The event will begin at 4pm.
