Bluesberry Festival Returns to Covington Oct. 5

The fifth annual Bluesberry Music + Art Festival is set to return to Covington, Louisiana, on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. The event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., promises a full day of blues music and art at the scenic Bogue Falaya Park.

Headlining this year’s festival is Texas blues-rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ally Venable. The lineup also includes notable performances by Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee and 2011 Guitar Center “King of the Blues” winner Jonathon “Boogie” Long, who returns after a popular set at Bluesberry’s 2022 festival; Blues Foundation Award winner Laurie Morvan; Austin-based guitarist and songwriter Gary Cain; and South Louisiana roots and blues musician Josh Garrett. New Orleans music icon Charmaine Neville will serve as emcee.

In addition to the main stage, the festival will showcase local and regional talent on its Pavilion Stage. Performers include Jourdan Blue, Christian Butler, Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee Julian Primeaux ,and Molly Taylor and the Gospel Hour.

Bluesberry Festival offers more than just music. Attendees can enjoy live art demonstrations, explore original works from over 20 regional artists, and participate in the festival’s Interactive Painting Experience, where they can create their own artwork to take home. For younger visitors, the Children’s Village, sponsored by Louisiana State Senator Patrick McMath, will provide a space for kids to engage in creative activities.

Food and drink options will be abundant, with the KYSEK Food Truck Roundup offering local cuisine from mobile eateries such as Geaux Creole, Rustic Press, and Rue Chow, all serving dishes with a blueberry twist. The McGinity Law Firm Rejuvenation Station and the Gallardo Signs / Abita Beer Garden will provide refreshments, including locally crafted brews from Abita Brewery and a variety of wines and cocktails.

“At its core, Bluesberry is truly a celebration of all the arts – music, visual art, culinary art, and more,” said Festival Co-Founder Sarada Bonnett. “One thing we’re particularly excited about as we enter into the festival’s fifth year is the revival of one of the most beloved elements from our inaugural festival in 2019, the Interactive Painting Experience. Back by popular demand, it gives our patrons the ability to flex their own artistic muscles and create a memory that they can take home with them.”

General admission is $25 online and $30 at the gate. Children 10 and under can attend for free. Festival parking will be available at the St. Tammany Justice Center, with trolley services running throughout the day to transport attendees to and from the park.
